"Consider Jesus..."
The book of Hebrews has so many wonderful and revitilizing verses! This one in particular has just resonated with me, because it is something I and I know we all have teetered with in the decisions we make.
"Consider Jesus, who endured such opposition, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." Hebrews 12:3
In the moments we receive the bad medical reports and have a decision to make, "will I take this report as truth or will I consider Jesus and believe that all the stripes on His back and the beating He endured happened so that I would not have to suffer, by His stripes I am healed?"
In the times where we continue to grow in bitterness towards a friend or a loved one because of a hurtful experience, "do I consider Jesus, how He loved me enough that even in my mess He went to the cross for me?" What then justifies us to walk in unforgiveness?
"Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Ephesians 4:31-32
One time I was walking into T.J.Maxx in Waycross, Georgia. I really desired a Michal Kors phone case in my favorite color, blue of course. I walked in thinking it would probably be "slim pickings" knowing the state of the store. But then, it hit me, have I acquired of Jesus? This might sound so silly to some of you, but, "He wants to give us the desires of our hearts..." Psalm 37:4. So, I considered Jesus in that moment and said, "Jesus, you know the desires of my heart and I know you want for me to have them so I am acquiring of you to guide me to where it will be." After this I just continued to walk around the store and I felt this random urge to walk over to the men's section where the clearance area was. So, I walked over and started plundering through the stuff and there it was! The Michael Kors phone case I had been wanting so badly. I was pumped! Haha! Not only was it exciting for me, but for Jesus as well. He loves faith and is pleased when we ask Him for the desires of our heart in faith. That is what a relationship is all about. Oh, I cannot forget to add this little detail, it was on sale!
The list goes on and on of situations and circumstances that we are all faced with daily to decide if we will consider Jesus in our life and in our every day decision making. The amazing thing is, we aren't waiting on God, He is waiting on us. Beloved, I want to encourage you to consider Jesus in your decisions today and I promise He will not let you down.
