3 Keys to Receiving God's Promises

Just the other day I heard a testimony of a young lady who for more than 10 years was told she would never be able to birth children of her own. She received a promise from God that He was going to give her a child. She immediately began...

1) Believing God Can’t Lie

No matter how dark things may appear in your life, there is hope in God’s Word also known as Jesus. God’s written Word has never failed anyone it’s not going to begin with you. There is only one thing God can’t do. He can’t lie. He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). God’s Word will stand forever (Isaiah 40:8). It would be easier for the earth to roll off of it’s axis and float off into space than for God to tell a lie. All of God’s promises outlined in the Bible are a yes and an amen to you. This means, you can have anything in the Bible that you are willing to believe God for!

“Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame,” (Romans 10:11).

Place your faith in God’s Word. He will not fail you!

2) Believing Delay is Not Denial

God has a beautiful plan for all of our lives and in God’s plan there are times and seasons (Ecclesiastes 3:1). Most of the time we are not waiting on God but He is waiting on us. He waits on us to seek out His Word, believe His Word, and do His Word.

“If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land,” (Isaiah 1:19).

God’s promises become ours the moment we take them by faith. The timing of those physical manifestations is in God’s control and His timing is perfect. For example, the other day Elizabeth and I went black Friday shopping together. While we were in JC Penney, I saw a record player I liked. I, while trying to be a good steward, pulled out my phone and found an identical one at Kohl’s for $10 less. So, we decided to drive to Kohl’s in efforts to save $10. When we got to Kohls I was disheartened to hear that they didn’t have that particular record player in the store but informed us that we could order it at their kiosk machine. So that’s what we did. I was excited. In 2-3 days, I would have it at my home. I didn’t know that the 2-3 days was going to be stretched out to 7-8 days.

However, the record player was delivered to our house at the least expected time. I had almost given up on it. Although I had to wait for the delivery of the record player, it was mine the moment I ordered and paid for it at the kiosk machine. All of God’s promises are a gift to us paid for in full by Jesus. Although His promises have been paid for, we still have to walk up to Him in prayer and order them. The second we ask God in faith of the petitions of our heart, those petitions become ours in that moment even though we have to wait on there delivery (Mark 11:24). Do not allow yourself to grow weary while you wait. You will have all that God has promised you in due season (Galatians 6:9).

3) Worship While You Wait

“Therefore, I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them, (Mark 11:24).

Our actions reveal what we truly believe. If we believe that God has already given us our petitions by faith, then we should live as if the package has already been delivered. Just the other day I heard a testimony of a young lady who for more than 10 years was told she would never be able to birth children of her own. She received a promise from God that He was going to give her a child. She immediately began telling her friends and family members that she was going to be a mom. She rejoiced at God’s Word. Her words and actions matched what she said she believed. She was pregnant with a little boy only 11 days after she had received the promise from God.

“imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises,” (Hebrews 6:12).

We must make sure we are agreeing with God’s Word and not with our circumstances if we are going to receive God’s promises in our lives. We must worship while we wait because God is faithful and will do all that He has promised.
