Losing Control

God wants to be the pilot of our lives plane. He is an expert pilot and knows exactly how to get us from where we are to where He has destined us to go in life. Depression, fear, and anxiety find access into our lives when we...

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul,” (Matthew 16:24-26).

Giving up control is not easy but it is necessary for a person to have life now and eternal life to come. The word Lord means owner. A person must not only believe that Jesus shed His blood for their sins and rose from the dead but they must also confess Him as their Lord (Romans 10:9-10). We hear salvation through faith in Jesus preached on a lot but not many people mention the Lord thing very often. Even the devil and all of His demons know that Jesus is the son of God. However, at one time or another they refused to make Him Lord over them.

It is the “Lord” thing that is difficult for many people because it requires them to relinquish the control of their lives over to God. This is why a person has to lose their life in order to find it. A person must first empty themselves of themselves before they can be filled with God and His life. I have been privileged to fly on a plane many times. When I get on a plane I don’t concern myself with all of the details that are involved with getting that plane off of the ground, into the air, and safely landing at the desired destination. I board the plane, find my seat, turn on my music and enjoy the flight. I don’t take on the cares of the pilot because they are not mine to carry as a passenger. I simply enjoy the ride and allow the pilot to carry the cares that come with his/her responsibility.

God wants to be the pilot of our lives plane. He is an expert pilot and knows exactly how to get us from where we are to where He has destined us to go in life. Depression, fear, and anxiety find access into our lives when we attempt to pilot a plane we are not equipped to fly. None of us are equipped to be Lord over our lives. Give your life and its cares to Jesus. Make Him Lord. Simplify your life by allowing Jesus to make the decisions concerning what your life is to be. Simplify your life by deciding to say yes to God’s will and His way for you. Rid yourself of all cares and allow God to care for you. Give your life to God and enjoy His life for you!
